80's Modern Transformed

Timberframe Porch Addition - This dated 1988 contemporary home was transformed into a modern-rustic country estate!  The entire exterior of this large home was updated using cultured ledgestone stone, rough sawn timbers and natural cedar shakes. A large front gable was built over a portion of the existing roof in order to minimize the shallow, linear roof line of the 80’s.  Timber beams were added to the gable to emphasis the rustic theme and to elongate and accentuate the overhangs. Custom timber brackets were added on the other elevations of the home to unify the look. In addition to the home’s facelift, the homeowners also wanted to address a nagging flaw in their current floor plan. The front door was not conveniently located to the driveway and caused confusion for visitors - a side door was often used by guests instead. Therefore, the renovation of this home also included a large front porch addition integrated into the new front gable.  Massive timbers were hoisted to create a welcoming covered walkway. Large stone piers, a rustic wood ceiling and siding complete the comfortable lodge-like entrance. The new porch is accented with a contemporary cable railing, new lighting and a stunning new front door. The side entrance was also updated making it seem more private, and less accessible to visitors. Although the exiting brick and vertical siding remained, the entire home received new trim and paint. The result is almost unrecognizable! The fresh new look of this home rivals any new home being built today! Happy  Happy Homeonwers!
