Lakefront Major Renovation & Addition

Lakefront Renovation and Addition - Top to bottom, inside and out , this traditional 1974 colonial in Lake Sherwood has been born again!
On the exterior, the outdated, two story front porch was torn down and a beautiful covered porch built in its place. A stunning craftsman style front door hints to the style and quality within. All the windows were replaced and re-trimmed in crisp white which is a striking contrast to the new Iron Grey, James Hardi siding and shake that covers the entire home including the new, 2 car garage the homeowners added for extra storage. On the lakeside, the lackluster back deck and ramp to the water were removed and a spectacular hexagon shaped sunroom and concrete patio were added to increase the outdoor living and entertaining space. And who doesn’t need that on a Lake!
Inside, a dramatic 2 story foyer was created by eliminating an upstairs bedroom and opening the floor and stairwell walls. Stunning oak railings with wrought iron balusters frame the balconies that overlook the grand new entrance.  Just off the foyer, maple cabinets in Nordic White from Brookhaven, surround the perimeter of the relocated kitchen.  The island and beverage center are finished in a contrasting Eclipse finish. Glass tile backsplash create an eye-catching backdrop for the gorgeous cabinetry and bright stainless vent hood and appliances. The new kitchen includes all the modern touches; in-island microwave, breakfast bar, walk-in pantry and a hospitality area with wine/beverage center. The original family room fireplace was cut back and now adds rustic charm to the contemporary kitchen. The rest of the first floor was re-worked to gain an  great room and office. Beautiful Hickory floors add to the character and warmth of the space. The laundry room and two powder rooms were also remodeled with new cabinetry and fixtures. Upstairs, a large new master suite with vaulted ceiling, expansive windows, walk-in closet and spa-like master bath was added over the existing garage. The original master was converted into an upstairs family lounge, perfect for homework or maybe a little quiet time for mom and dad.
Without question, this lakefront home has been totally transformed.  The next generation of lake lovers will enjoy their better-than-new home for many years to come! Commerce, Michigan.
