Extraordinary Exterior Update

Milford Lakefront Exterior Renovation - Saturday Night Fever was all the rage in 1978 when this large lakefront home was designed and built. My how styles have changed over the last 40 years! Our client turned to the M.J. Whelan team to pull his family home out of the past and give it a current, up-to-date look.  The remodel included a new roof structure on the whole house. The shallow shed roofs were replaced by new, taller gables.  The old vertical siding was replaced with James Hardie horizontal cement siding with shake gables.  The structural system of the large lakeside deck was stabilized and wobbly stairs replaced.  The unsteady upper deck and drafty sliding door was removed and a new energy efficient window added.  There are dramatic design changes to front elevation of the home as well.  A bonus room was added over the existing garage creating a double gable detail with Boral - Southern Ledgestone accents. The most dramatic change is to the front entrance. Gone are the etched glass front doors. Two story hand-crafted timbers anchored by 6' tall stone piers and a custom arched timber truss, accentuate the entrance in a beautiful contemporary rustic style. A new English Walnut front door and new custom arched window above welcome guests to this Lakefront retreat. There are endless design possibilities with each house and our design team really thought outside the box on this one!
